Women of Taste | The
Women of Taste invitational quilt project matched 51 women quilt artists
with 51 prominent women chefs and culinary entrepreneurs. The resulting
exhibition consists of 50 contemporary art quilts that are based on personal
and professional ideas about food, family and careers. Other topics such as the environment, agriculture and health are also probed in these stitched statements.
On
view at the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia are 25 quilts that resulted
from the artist-chef collaborations. Some of the pairings of artists-chefs

Contemporary
Art Quilts: Exploring Ideas about Food, Family, Careers, the Environment,
Agriculture, and Health by Shannon Lepow 6th Grade Students use visual memory skills
to produce a work of art. Students identify the components of an artistŐs
style, including materials, designs, methods, and subject matter. For
a short studio assignment students create a story quilt out of paper and
textiles. |
